RISE & SHINE! Rising to an offer to share with leadership trainers across America, I recently participated in a Tele-Forum organized by the communication team of the Silver Bay Leadership Forum. 24 of us Silver Bay supporters called in to listen to—and share with—executive leadership coach, Rich Cooper of LEAD-USA.com. Rich Cooper authors and delivers workshops on breakthrough thinking. Participants reflected on Rich's powerful facilitation at the 91st annual Silver Bay Leadership Forum in July 2009. To demonstrate the impact of focused intent, Rich actually guided the group to "break through" a wooden board that symbolized a limiting belief. Like "I’m too old to learn to surf." Or "I'm not a good listener." Yes, friends, we all have them. And, we need to break 'em! Limiting beliefs crawl into our minds during the "winters" of our lives. Spring-cleaning requires more than just sweeping dust—start to sweep away those limiting thoughts. Think, Feel and Do! Rich reminds us to pause each day and reflect on three questions: What am I thinking? How do I feel about that topic? What am I going to do today to support the good feeling and/or deal with the challenges? GET YOUR SHINE ON Get your shine on. Consider a "volun-teaming" event. Rose and I recently guided a client group to volunteer in a project at Second Harvest to assemble foodstuffs for distribution to the less fortunate around the holidays. The participants loved it! They found it to be "purposeful, practical and promoted a positive team spirit." Now—more than ever—there are needs out in our communities to be met. Consider shining some of your light on a community project. SPRING FORWARD!
