David "Dayton" Hughes
Dayton is the founding partner of DHC / Developing Human Capital LLC.
His enthusiasm for international learning and development began early in his career. After earning his B.A. in International Relations at Miami University (Oxford, Ohio) in 1983, Dayton then served two years with Miami’s European branch in Luxembourg. In 1988, Dayton earned his MBA in International Management at the Monterey Institute of International Studies. |
He served Wittenberg University (Springfield, Ohio) for six years as Director of International Admission and then honored the call to return to Monterey as the Monterey Institute’s Chief Recruitment Officer in 1996. Fellow Monterey Institute alumni founded AMT Group, a management training and consulting firm in Tokyo; and Dayton joined the team in 1999 as the Director of Promotion and Development. Dayton served a wide variety of international clients while in Tokyo including: NOKIA, Fuji-Xerox, VOLVO, and Japanese global trading giant, ITOCHU. Eventually-- eight active years later-- Dayton returned to California’s Central Coast in 2007 and launched DHC.
Based in Monterey, Dayton actively volunteers with many civic organizations, including Rotary, volunteering at home and abroad including projects in Guatemala and Belize. Dayton also served as the GSE (Group Study Exchange) Team Leader to guide the Team to Brazil. Dayton enjoys supporting as Past-President of The Rotary Club of Monterey International.
Having trained, coached and consulted clients from over 50 nations, Dayton appreciates diversity and creates win-win-win scenarios with each new situation. |
